To continue with last post, we also added a rail to the robot so that it is able to pick up the balls so that it can reload the launcher. The ball used to fall off the sides, but we fixed that by adding supports to the sides to help it roll down the arm with ease. Oh we were also the first ones to complete the challenge, in 45 seconds!!!!!

Today we attached our ball launcher to the back of our robot so that we have a more stable launching system that is easier to aim. It may take time to get a consistent shot every time, but we can practice to aim it in a smaller amount of time. This is going to be crucial if we plan on doing the challenge.

Today we are replacing the laser pointer that was once mounted on the robot because it died. We still need to finish the challenge today for scoring a point by knocking a flag, but this quarter has been very dominant by the Broken Axles. From doing 4 challenges, to coding, to the assembly. We are just getting started.

Today we are still establishing the build for the shooter. On Friday we attempted the challenge, projecting a ball at the target, but failed miserable. Today we are doing a hopefully successful rerun of the challenge

Vex SolidWorks - Scoring High Caps and Flags

Image
As of today, 10/12/2018, this is our current state of the robot for the challenge "Scoring High Caps and Flags." This is the Ball Launcher we used for launching balls at the flags, its main mechanism is the linear slide and the half-gear. As soon as the gear ends, the rubber bans that we will attach to the slide will apply a force great enough to launch the ball to turn the flag.

Today we played around at the 3d printer station and made a outline on what we are doing next class. We are projecting to finish up the assembly of the shooter and add a special piece to the robot to help us aim. It will be a surprise!

Today we messed with the 3d printer and have created the assembly that we were looking for. We added a attachment called a laser to pin point our target in the arena. The challenge attempt will happen next class.

We printed out the gear from the 3d printer today and have assembled it. The assembly is kind of sloppy and are addressing the problems today. The assembly was a a replicate of Mr Martins piece. The Axeholes will keep you posted.

Today we are replicating Martin's projectile to launch balls at the targets set up in the Vex Turning Point arena. Still need to 3d print our gear but looks like we should have this part concluded soon.
